Busworld Foundation signs MoU with UCLG-MEWA
Busworld Foundation and UCLG-MEWA, the organization for United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation between the two organizations on sustainable passenger mobility for all via future-oriented and sustainable bus systems.
With their Memorandum of Understanding Busworld and UCLG-MEWA are stating to recognize the benefits of genuine and substantive cooperation and both organizations will pursue this by organizing knowledge sharing conferences on the implementation of future-oriented bus systems. Their aim is to promote sustainable passenger mobility and to facilitate and catalyse the implementation of modern bus systems that promote mobility for all, including women, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups of people. In organizing this both organizations will facilitate dialogue between public and private stakeholders in the bus and coach sector, and organize meetings with a focus on sharing knowledge and experiences as well as best practices on modern and future-oriented bus systems.
The United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), has a wide membership network consisting of local governments, local government associations, real and legal persons and is one of the nine sections of UCLG World Organization, based in Spain. UCLC represents more than 100 years of experience in local government movement. UCLG-MEWA, which actively represents its members in the UN and other international organizations, also provides a global perspective to the local development system of the countries in the region.
The Busworld Foundation widely known as “Busworld”, is a private, not-for-profit foundation located in Belgium. It is committed to organize conferences and seminars worldwide with the aim for facilitating the implementation of future-oriented bus systems via knowledge sharing between all stakeholders and, in particular, bridging the gap between the stakeholders coming from the public sector and those representing the private sector. Busworld does that by organizing conferences under “Busworld Academy”, to raise awareness on modern and future-oriented Bus Systems.
